About the author Mathew J. Shaw

Mathew’s journey as a writer began with curiosity and defiance—sneaking onto his family’s first computer, a Windows 95 running WordPerfect, despite his mother’s warnings not to touch it. What he discovered there was transformative: the power to breathe life into characters and shape worlds with words. That spark became a lifelong passion.

Born in Mississauga, Ontario and later moving to North Bay, Mathew began writing his first book, A New Life, at a young age. Though many of his early works remain unpublished, the act of writing became a constant companion—a creative force he’s never stopped nurturing. With no formal education beyond high school, he’s taught himself through reading, reflection, and relentless creativity.

An avid reader across genres, Mathew draws inspiration from the likes of Stephen King—especially The Dark Tower series—S.E. Hinton, Tamara Siler Jones, and countless others. His bookshelf spans novels, graphic novels, philosophy, religious, and educational texts, each one feeding the ideas that shape his writing.

Whether crafting bold fictional worlds or exploring the deeper questions of life, Mathew writes with the beats of his heart, curiosity, and the belief that stories have the power to transcend.
